THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE
You would think that some great force, event or action could bring a group of people to their breaking point. The place at which they move from passivity or complacency to action.
Sometimes this is true, but more often it is the buildup of small, seemingly insignificant incidences that reach a level that people can no longer tolerate. The proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back, the domino effect or small drops of water, one drop after another, filling the jar to the brim, and even to a point of overflowing. On their own the drops are ineffective but added together their sum total is greater than their individual strength. Amazing how the size of the catalyst is overshadowed by the effect of the response. The same principle applies to you and me.
On our own, we are very weak. But the little ideas, support, encouragement and wisdom in varying degrees from different people pooled together, over a period of time, eventually cause us to change, as individuals, as family and as a nation. Never underestimate the little things in life. |
