Dr. Kuda Katurura is a 29-year old graduate of Medicine and surgery in Zimbabwe, Africa. This relatively young mind currently holds the post of Medical director in Celebration Health. He is also a registrar in General Surgery. Asked how he manages, he replies, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Kuda became a member of Celebration Health in 2006. A year later he was co-opted on to the organization’s board of trustees, with the view that this would encourage the involvement of junior doctors and medical students. It did. Two years later, he now heads up all medical activities that Celebration Health is involved in, for the simple reason that he gets things done. Dr. Kuda was the man on the ground, coordinating and supervising doctors’ and nurses’ activities, in the cholera camps earlier this year.
What has impacted him most in Celebration Health, he says, is the servant heart; compassion and love demonstrated by staff and volunteers alike. Watching his teams give selflessly, of their time and expertise, to diseased and hungry fellow citizens, gives him a reason to go on doing what he does.
He is committed to playing a role in the reformation of the healthcare delivery system, and he believes he is a godly voice, whose responsibility is to input into the healthcare systems of African countries.
