210 adults received free cataract operations through partnership with Doctors for Life International during their recent missions trip from the 28th-31st of January 2010. A cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye that affects vision. Most cataracts are related to aging. Cataracts are very common in older people. This intervention was a collaborative venture between Celebration Health, University of Zimbabwe College of Health Science Department and the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare. During the 2009 Christmas season Celebration Health presented baby hampers and clothing to mothers and staff at two hospitals and clinics in . The response from patients and staff was overwhelming.
Celebration Health ended the year with a medical/ministry outreach to a local city Marondera which is 45 kilometres from Harare. A team of 17 medical professionals and a host of volunteers treated 1714 patients. This small but determined team performed 12 operations, 176 tooth extractions, and 100 minor procedures. Celebration Health is set to do quarterly medical/ministry outreaches this year and monthly medical outreaches in conjunction with our churches throughout 2010.
